May 19, 2020 - 16:12

KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Four policemen, including a commander, have been killed and as many more injured after Talibaninfo-icon militants attacked security check-posts in southern Kandahar province, an official said Tuesday.

Police spokesman Jamal Nasir Barikzai told Pajhwok Afghan New Commander Munir was among four policemen killed and seven others injured after the rebels stormed security check-posts in Maroof district late Monday night.

He said two Taliban gunmen were also killed and one escaped in police retaliatory firing. He said the incident was being investigated to find out whether it was a clash or an insider’s attack.

However, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and said one of their infiltrators killed 18 policemen, including four commanders.
