Revenue from 2 Samangan coalmines down by 178mn afs

AIBAK (Pajhwok): Revenue from two coalmines in northern Samangan province has decreased by almost 178 million afghanis in the first six months of the current year compared with the corresponding period last year, an official said on Saturday.

Mohammad Siddique Aizizi, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News 917 million afghanis collected from the two coalmines of Dara-i-Sauf Bala district within the first six months of this year.

He said over one billion afghanis had been collected in the same period from the same coalmines last year.

He said due to lack of security on the Dara-i-Sauf Bala-Mazar-i-Sharif and Dara-i-Sauf Paeen-Aibak highways Talibaninfo-icon militants were collecting money from the vehicles loaded with coals.

 Reduced in demand for coal and increased in fees by the government were main reasons behind decreased in the revenue of certain coalmines, he added.
