JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A three-day entry test for semi-higher, higher and university admissions began in eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday.

Nearly 18,000 candidates, including 2,000 girls, are appearing in the exams at the Nangarhar University in Jalalabad.

University Chancellor Prof. Khalil Ahmad Behsudwal said 13,122 school graduates, including 2,182 girls, are appearing in the entry test for college admissions in the province this year.

Another 3,481 students are sitting the exams for admissions to semi-higher educationinfo-icon institutes and the master’s programme, according to the official.

Acting Governor Tamim Arif Momand said all candidates had been certified biometrically and the entry test was being conducted in a transparent way.

Strict security measures had been put in place for the exams, he said, asking the participants to choose higher education institutes carefully.

Dr. Syed Rozatullah Majeed, head of the entry test committee, said Nangarhar had a higher number of candidates than other provinces. He also promises transparency in the test.

Samiullah, a graduate from Nangahar’s Mia Omar High School, underlined the need for ensuring merit in compilation of results.
