AIC official’s driver killed in Kabul explosion

AIC official’s driver killed in Kabul explosion

Oct 04, 2020 - 10:57

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The driver of Access to Information Commission (AIC) member Hamdullah Arbab succumbed to the wounds he suffered in a bomb blast in Kabul on Sunday.

Arbab told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place in Hewadwal Blocks in limits of Kabul’s 8th police district. He was on his way to office along with his son and driver when the explosion occurred.

The official said he and his son escaped unhurt but his driver sustained injuries in the explosion. The diver was evacuated to hospital for medical treatment.

But a well-placed source said the driver of Arbab died at hospital as a result of the critical wounds he had suffered in the blast.

Police spokesman Firdos Faramarz said the blast was triggered by a magnetic bomb, leaving two individuals injured.

The AIC condemned the attack on its member and confirmed the death of Mohammad Omar, a worker of the commission and driver of Arbab.

“The enemies of Afghans have proved that they will not shun oppression and terror. They disregard all human, religious and moral values,” a statement from the commission said.

It called on both negotiating teams in Doha to expedite the dialogue and bring peace, a basic need of the people, and put an end to the killing of innocent Afghans.
