Gold prices up, food stable in Kabul markets
KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of gold edged up and of daily use items remained unchanged during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.
Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Mariam area of Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of one gram of Arabian gold increased from 3,750 afghanis to 3,800 afghanis and the same quantity of Russian variety from 3,100afs to 3,200afs.
But the prices of food items remained stable. Food Traders Union head in Kabul, Zamrai Safi, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a 50kg Hindi sugar cost 2,080afs, 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour 1,700 afghanis, 24 kilograms of Pakistani rice cost 2,300afs and a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian cooking oil 1,310afs, one kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 290 afs, same quantity of African tea 290 afs, the same rates as of last week’s.
Mohammad Omaid Hussian at Mandawi market sold 49-kg of Kazakh flour for 1,750afs, 49-kg Hindi sugar for 2,150afs, 24-kg Pakistani rice for 2,400afs, 16-kg Malaysian cooking oil for 1,350afs, one kg of Indonesian green team for 320afs, and the same amount of African black tea for 320afs.
Fuel prices also remain unchanged
Ahmad Javed, a worker at Wazirabad fuel station, said one liter of petrol was sold for 35afs and the same quantity of diesel for 36afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta area, said one kilogram of the commodity was sold for 55afs—same as last week’s rate.

Haji Hussian, a moneychanger at Sara-i-Shahzad market, told Pajhwok that one US dollar consumed 77afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees 474afs compared to last week’s 76.90afs and 479afs respectively.
