More than 1,000 deported Afghans return to Ghor

FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Over 1,000 illegal migrants have returned to western Ghorinfo-icon province in the past seven months after being deported by host countries, an official said on Monday.

The Afghans, who migrate to European countries via Pakistaninfo-icon, Turkey and Iran, faced risks on the way to their dreamland. Some even lose their lives while others are deported.

Refugees Affairs Director Abdul Rauf Ghafoori told Pajhwok Afghan News more than 1,000 Afghans, who had gone abroad in quest of jobs, returned home in the first seven months of the current solar yearinfo-icon.

He accused human smugglers of inducing youth and teenage children, who were mostly unaware of risks, into seeking comforts and money in foreign countries.

The official voiced concern over the state of migrants, saying they offered the deportees had food and cash assistance in coordination with the International Organization of Migrationinfo-icon (IOM).

Mohammad Arif Aaber, the governor spokesperson, said youth offered huge amounts of money to smugglers to take them abroad. He confirmed they faced several problems on their way.

Without going into detail, he said the local administration was striving to create job opportunities for the deported youth in coordination with foreign organisations.
