KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Afghan Post revenue dropped by 76 percent this year compared to last year’s income due to the outbreak of coronavirus, an official said on Thursday.

Ahmad Waheed Wais, head of the Afghan Post Company, said the Post collected 500 million afghanis revenue per year, but this year revenue dropped to 120 million afs as a result of coronavirus.

Addressing a gathering in Kabul University marking the Worldinfo-icon Post Day, Wais said the lack of exact addresses in Afghanistaninfo-icon and insecurity were major challenges to postal activities in the country.

He said 363 post offices were currently active across the country and out of them 16 offices were stationed in different parts of Kabul City.

He also said the Afghan Post might launch issuance of online Computerized Identity Card and passports to Afghans in foreign countries.

Samad Musleh, member of the Postal Services Organisation APRA, said the World Postal Day was being celebrated in 92 countries, including Afghanistan.

He added monitoring of postal offices activities, their services and marketing were main duties of APRA.
