KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health  (MoPH) on Sunday said 76 new positive Covid-19 cases surfaced in Afghanistan during the last 24 hours, pushing up the country’s overall tally to 41,501.

In a statement, MoPH said 307 people underwent tests in various laboratories across the country during the past 24 hours, with 76 testing positive for the infection.

Of the fresh cases, 23 were registered in Kabul, 20 in Ghazni, eight in Bamyan, five in Laghman, four each in Nimroz and Parwan, two each in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Maidan Wardak, Kunar and Nuristan and one each in Kandahar and Kunduz.

The period saw five patients recovering from the virus, taking the number of recoveries to 34,326. No one died from the pandemic in the past 24 hours.

So far, the disease has claimed 1,536 lives across the country. The ministry urged the people to strictly follow its guidelines to contain the disease.
