3 women killed, 2 children hurt in Kunduz mortar fire

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Three women were killed and two children wounded when a mortar shell landed on their home in Khanabad district of northern Kunduz province, an official said on Tuesday.

IsmatullahMuradi, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Andrabio area of the district late on Monday night.

He said three women were killed and two children were injured in the mortar strike. He accused Taliban insurgents of firing the mortar in the area.

Separately in the same district, an uprising forces commander was killed during a clash with insurgents on Monday.

Police spokesman InamuddinRahmani told Pajhwok commander Najibullah was killed and one of his bodyguards wounded in the clash.

The Taliban have not yet commented about these incidents.
