KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health  (MoPH) on Tuesday said 95 new positive Covid-19 cases surfaced in Afghanistan during the last 24 hours, pushing up the country’s overall tally to 41,728.

In a statement, MoPH said 457 people underwent tests in various laboratories across the country during the past 24 hours, with 95 testing positive for the infection.

Of the fresh cases, 27 were registered in Balkh, 16 in Takhar, 15 in Kandahar, 10 in Baghlan, nine in Kabul, eight in Kunduz, seven in Nangarhar and three in Bamyan.

The period saw 13 patients recovering from the virus, taking the number of recoveries to 34,355.

At least five individuals died from the pandemic in the past 24 hours, pushing up the number of deaths to 1,544.

The ministry asked people to strictly follow its health guidelines to contain the disease.
