2 reconstruction projects put into service in Kot district

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two reconstructioninfo-icon projects have been completed and put into service in Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province where an aid distribution program for poor people was also launched on Thursday.

Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Governor Ziaul Haq Amarkhel on Wednesday traveled to Kot district and inaugurated some projects there.

He said Amarkhel was accompanied by a number of local officials including provincial educationinfo-icon director and they inaugurated a newly constructed building for Saypai High School. The building cost 24 million afghanis

The project was financed by the Ministry of Urban Development and Land (MUDL) and took eight months to complete, he said, adding that the building has 16 classrooms and three administrative rooms as well as toilets, surrounding wall and a drinking water well.

Governor Amarkhel said academic projects had special importance and asked locals to cooperate in protection of the school.

He also inaugurated a building for Promotion Program of the agricultureinfo-icon department in Kot district, which cost 5.6 million afghanis.

Amarkhel also inaugurated work on citrus gardens on 200 acres of land in the district. He said the gardens would be built on farmers’ own land under the Community Based Agricultural Rural Development (CBARD) program of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.

The governor also inaugurated work on a number of other small agriculture projects in the district.

Meanwhile, distribution of a cash aid worth 56 million afghanis for around 1,700 poverty-stricken people was also launched in the province.

Qari Najibullah Qayumi, provincial refugees and repatriation director, said that the aid would be distributed in Kot, Bati Kot and Rodat districts of the province.
