Arrest mastermind behind Kabul University attack: Students

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Hundreds of students of Kabul University on Sunday in a rally asked the government to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the attack on the university and take practical steps for the security of country’s educational centers.

On November 2, armed men attacked Kabul University campus and killed 22 people while 27 others were wounded.

After the attack, hundreds of students of the university and civil societyinfo-icon activists held protests and asked for detention of the organizers of the assault.

More than 300 hundred students of the university today also held a rally and chanted slogans ‘Do not light candles for us, ensure our security,’ ‘Attack on the university is attack on educationinfo-icon,’ ‘Justice, justice.”

The demonstrators in their resolution, said, “The perpetrators of Kabul University attack should be chased and officials who neglected to ensure security should be interrogated.”

The resolution letter read that security for Kabul University should be ensured by Afghan Special Forces so no more of such attacks happen in the future.

Protestors said that security cameras should also be installed inside and outside of the university campus.

No any vehicles should be allowed without a search and check well as irresponsible gunmen should also be banned from entering the university, the letter said.

Demonstrators asked the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) to depoliticize all higher educational institutes in the country.

Dr. Ahmad Sajjad, a lecturer in Kabul Medical University said that the aim of the rally was to advocate for students who lost their lives in the university attack.

He said university was a place for education of positive politics and attacks on universities and academic societies should be stopped.

Mohammad Tariq Sadat, a journalism student in Kabul University said, “We ask the government pay serious attention for the security of academic areas and identify those involved in the university attack.”

Other students also said that the government should protect academic areas from future security threats.
