146 new Covid-19 cases surface in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday announced detecting 146 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours, with the total cases reaching 42,609.

In a statement, the ministry said 555 people underwent tests during the period, with 146 people testing positive for the infection.

Of the new cases, 35 were recorded in Kabul, 34 in Balkh, 28 in Herat, 19 in Takhar, nine in Nangarhar, seven in Parwan, six in Kandahar, three in Kunduz, two in Helmand, two in Uruzgan and one in Zabul.

The ministry said 13 people recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 34,967.

At least four people died from the virus and thus the deaths reached 1,581 during the period.
