JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two people have been killed and two others wounded when an Afghan Air Force (AAF) helicopter crashed in the Hesarak district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Attaullah Kogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the AAF MI-17 type helicopter crashed due to technical issues at 12:00am on Tuesday night.
He said two individuals, including a policeman, were killed and two others onboard wounded.
But another security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, claimed that six security personnel were injured in the overnight crash.
Ministry of Defence in a statement confirmed the AAF helicopter crash as a result of technical issue while taking off in Hesarak district.
The source said: “Unfortunately, a flight crew and one ANP member were martyred and two others were injured as a result of the incident.”
However, fierce fighting is underway in the Hesarak district since the past few days.
