3 individuals gunned down in Jawzjan

SHEBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot dead, including head of district development assembly in the Faizabad district of northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Wednesday.

Alif Shah, district’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the three individuals came under gunmen attack on their way to home from mosque on Tuesday evening.

He said Shahrullah –head the development council—was among the dead. The motive behind assassinations was not immediately clear and the incident took place in Taliban-controlled area.

Deputy police chief Brig. Gen. Shah Agha Shetab blamed Taliban for the killing of former jihadi commander and current head of development council for Haidarbad village.

He claimed the militants were trying to kill tribal elders and influential figures by launching terrorist activities.

The Taliban have not yet commented about the murders
