India hits back at Pakistan over terror allegations

India hits back at Pakistan over terror allegations

Nov 15, 2020 - 21:42

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): New Delhi on Sunday rejected Islamabad’s claims of state-sponsored terrorism involving the use of Afghanistaninfo-icon soil, calling it ‘a futile anti-India propaganda exercise.”

“We have seen media reports on a press conference by the Pakistani establishment. This is yet another futile anti-India propaganda exercise. The so called claims of ‘proof’ against India enjoy no credibility, are fabricated and represent figments of imagination,” a statement from the Indian foreign ministry said.

Pakistaninfo-icon on Saturday made public a dossier that it claimed contained `irrefutable proofs’ of the Indian sponsorship of terrorism in Pakistan and called on the worldinfo-icon to stop India’s rogue actions for saving the region’s peace and security.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, accompanied by military spokesman Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar, at a presser, emphasised that the world could not afford to ignore India’s “rogue behaviour” and said Pakistan reserved the right to defend itself in every possible way.

“The [specific] evidence presented by Pakistan provides a concrete proof of Indian financial and material sponsorship of multiple terrorist organisations, including UN-designated terrorist organisations Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, Balochistan Liberation Army and Tehreek-i-Talibaninfo-icon Pakistan,” explained Qureshi.

The dossier was being shared with the United Nations (UN), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) as well as other influential world capitals, he said.

However, the Indian Foreign Ministry’s statement said: “This desperate attempt will find few takers as the international community is aware of Pakistan’s tactics and proof of its terror sponsorship has been admitted by none other than its own leadership.”

The statement said the face of global terror, Osama Bin Laden, was found in Pakistan; Pakistan’s PM glorified him as a ‘martyr’ from the floor of Parliament; he admitted the presence of 40,000 terrorists in Pakistan; their Science and Technology Minister proudly claimed involvement and success of Pakistan, led by its Prime Minister, in the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 Indian soldiers were martyred.”

India said despite repeated calls for restraint and adherence to the ceasefire understanding of 2003 for maintaining peace and tranquility, Pakistani forces continue to engage in providing supporting cover fire to infiltrators.

The incessant infiltration of terrorists and induction of weapons to fuel terror activities continues unabated. Such activities are not possible without the support of Pakistani forces deployed along the LoC.

“We call upon Pakistan to end its support to cross border terrorism. Pakistani leaders have never hidden the fact that it has become a factory for producing terrorists.”

Earlier in the day, Afghanistan Foreign Ministry spurned claims that New Delhi is using Afghan soil to plot attacks against Pakistan, rejecting the allegation as groundless.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said: “We are committed to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations without any discrimination.” In a statement, MoFA pledged Afghanistan would never allow the use of its soil for disruptive activities against other countries.
