NAP to fight human trafficking to be implemented soon
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in a special meeting discussed the National Action Plan (NAP) on fighting human trafficking and decided to approve and implement the plan in next two weeks.
Acting Justice Minister Fazal Ahmad Manavi told reporters here that a law on human and migrant trafficking already existed and a 16-member commission comprised of government and non-governmental institutions held a special meeting in this regard.
He said the fight against human and migrant trafficking was an important issue for the government of Afghanistan.
Manavi cited violence and poverty as main factors behind human trafficking which he said affected society like drug trafficking and one could not take human trafficking lightly than drug trafficking in Afghanistan.
He said Afghanistan considered human trafficking seriously and therefore efforts were made on national and international level to prevent the phenomenon.
He said in today’s special meeting, discussions were held regarding the NAP on fighting human and migrant trafficking and hoped that in the coming two weeks, the plane would be approved and implemented.
The minister said the action plan has been developed to ensure effective coordination and cooperation at national and international levels
Manavi said if certain milestones were not achieved in the fight against human trafficking, the international community would impose restrictions on such countries and Afghanistan could be an exception.
He asked people and media to support the government in this fight and cooperate with it.
